TLS Food Drive

Event Type:
Saturday, May 6, 2017 (All day) - Friday, May 12, 2017 (All day)

The Little School will collect food donations beginning this Saturday, May 6 at the Art Festival, and continuing through the school week until the following Friday, May 12. Each class will collect a specific category of food (e.g., canned main dish, pasta, etc.) in individual-sized portions, but families are welcome to donate food from multiple categories.

  • Plastic Grocery Bags – All Classes
  • Canned Main Dish Items – Heidi & Jackie’s classes
  • Pasta Items – Steve’s class
  • Soup/Ramen – Cindy S’s class
  • Breakfast Items – Mem & Michele’s classes
  • Granola Bars – Nancy & Vivian’s classes
  • Popcorn – Cindy W’s class
  • Fruits or Vegetables – Amanda’s class
  • Individual Snack Foods – Joyce & Kristin’s classes
  • Beverages – Katie’s classes

Students will then sort the food and assemble small bags (called "pantry packs") containing one of each item, which will be distributed through Hopelink to Lake Washington students who are “food insecure” and would otherwise not have food on weekends and evenings. This is a great opportunity for us to practice service learning and teach our students about the importance of giving back and helping others in the community. More details about the food categories can be found here. Volunteers are needed in the mornings and afternoons the week of May 8. To get involved, please sign up here. For questions, email Becky Dolan.>

All kids 14 and under take home a Mariners gym bag, and the first 10,000 moms get a Mariners tote bag! We will be sitting in main level seats again this year. May Day Parade

Event Type:
Thursday, May 4, 2017 -
11a.m. - 11:15a.m.

On Thursday, May 4 at 11 a.m. we will welcome spring in TLS style – with a parade around the Big Field, led by Librarian Nancy Palmer. Students create some festive hats, crowns, wands, signs, banners, shakers or other musical instruments that they wear or hold as they march. The parade lasts for approximately 10-15 minutes, and we welcome you to join us if it fits conveniently into your day. We ask that all parade watchers view the festivities from the basketball court.

Art Festival

You may be done with all the wet, but your child isn't. Splash! is a day for students, faculty and staff to have at it. The school provides spray bottles for everyone, and no other devices of any type are allowed. The water play intensity increases with age, ranging from bubbles and sprinklers for the youngest to some serious squirting for the oldest. Please be sure to send your child with a towel and bathing suit to best participate in the fun.
